Freeform embroidery on burlap coffee bags with Rita Kroh

Date: Saturday 18 November 2023 (10am-1pm)

Contents: In this class participants will apply traditional and freeform embroidery techniques on a burlap coffee bag, with the intent of transforming the bag into a decorative wall hanging for the home. Participants will be taught a combination of embroidery and latch hook stitches in wool yarns, to obtain different results and textures.

Objectives: Mastering the basic stitches of latch hook and embroidery on wool. Learn more about of composition, color choice and shapes.

Requirements: No previous knowledge is required. Participants must be over 14 years old. This workshop will be taught in Portuguese, but the teacher can provide instructions and support in English if necessary.

Materials included: the yarns and the burlap bags used in this class are included.

Materials to be brought by participants: tapestry needle. These materials can be purchased at Retrosaria on the day of the workshop.

Withdrawals/refunds: the registration fee will be refunded to students who for some reason cannot participate in the workshop and communicate their withdrawal up to ten days before the workshop date.

The workshop will only take place if a minimum of three people sign up to participate. In the event that we don’t reach minimum attendance of three participants until five days before the date of the workshop, the workshop will be cancelled and any participants who had signed up will be contacted for a refund, rescheduling (if possible) or shop voucher to be arranged. In the event that the workshop is cancelled by the tutor due to unforeseen circumstances, we will apply the same procedure: refund of the fee, exchange for a shop voucher or, should another workshop date already be booked, a rescheduling of the workshop.
