Overlay Mosaic Crochet with Ana Torradinhas - 1 MARCH
Teacher: Ana Torradinhas (Ananim Atelier)
Date: Saturday, March 1st, 2025 (10am-1pm)
Workshop for people who already know classic crochet’s basics and want to learn a new technique. Overlapping mosaic crochet is a crochet technique that, in its simplest version, allows you to create colorful patterns without changing color in the middle of rows/rounds, using just low points and high points. As the stitches overlap, it creates a dense fabric, especially suitable for accessories like bags and baskets and homewares too. With this workshop, we will learn the essentials of the technique with a very versatile method, and gain some tools to create our own projects.
Goals:
In class, and starting from a small sample with a geometric pattern, we will learn the
overlapping mosaic crochet techniques using the continuous method, and understand how we can adapt a scheme to obtain different measurements and even change the pattern itself. The base project is carried out in rows using the continuous method. Use adapted versions of most basic stitches of overlapping mosaic crochet (single crochet in the back loop and high crochet in the front strap).
Contents:
- What is overlay mosaic crochet and how it works (reading a chart, construction, stitches and uses).
- Practical application with a quadrangular sample using a geometric pattern, which will
later serve as a basis for adaptations.
- Overlapping mosaic crochet techniques included (in addition to the most basic ones): method continuous in rows, anchored double crochets and diagonal anchored double crochets.
What you need to know:
Having basic knowledge and ease with classic/traditional crochet or beginner skills in the overlay mosaic crochet technique. It’s essential to know the basic crochet stitches (chain, single crochet and double crochet)*.

Optional (but recommended): stitch markers, pen/pencil and paper for note taking.
*The registration fee includes paper and PDF instructions with the scheme of the sample, tips on adaptations and application suggestions. After the workshop, the trainer is available to answer questions via Whatsapp, email or Instagram.
