Castelo Branco embroidery class with Catarina Tudella (Seda & Companhia)

Castelo Branco is a traditional Portuguese embroidery style dating back to the 17th century, easily recognisable through the characteristic motifs and materials used.
In this class, students will learn the basics of Castelo Branco Embroidery. Each student will embroider one of the most typical motifs of Castelo Branco Embroidery using the traditional materials.
Contents:
Students will learn about the history of Castelo Branco Embroidery and its traditional tools, materials and ornamental themes. They will embroider a traditional motif using the three basic stitches of Castelo Branco Embroidery.
Skills:
No previous experience is needed to participate. This class is for ages 14 and up. The class will be taught in Portuguese but the teacher can provide some support/guidance in English.
Materials:
Workshop supplies are included in the fee and includes a booklet about Castelo Branco Embroidery.
Students should bring or purchase in store:
• thimble (optional)
• 15 cm / 6'' embroidery hoop
Seda & Companhia is small brand of hand-embroidered clothing and accessories using Castelo Branco motifs. Catarina Tudella has over 30 years of embroidery experience.

Withdrawals/refunds: Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made less than ten days in advance. We are also unable to offer make-ups or exchanges for missed workshops.
The workshop will only take place if a minimum of three people sign up to participate. In the event that we don’t reach minimum attendance of three participants until five days before the date of the workshop, the workshop will be cancelled and any participants who had signed up will be contacted for a refund, rescheduling (if possible) or shop voucher to be arranged. In the event that the workshop is cancelled by the tutor due to unforeseen circumstances, we will apply the same procedure: refund of the fee, exchange for a shop voucher or, should another workshop date already be booked, a rescheduling of the workshop.
