Manufacturer's description:
In Creole from the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde, Xtód comes from the verb 'to be', but it would be a reductive translation for the cosmovision of the island. Its poetic sense of being and being in an insular life, refers to a posture of pause to reinvent the relationship of body and mind with time. It is this relationship of being that we propose to experience through this spinning top, both for a contemporary experience of ancestral knowledge.
Neve Insular (NI) was born from the utopia of projecting ancestral knowledge of Cape Verdean panaria (cotton cloth) in a holistic project that integrates the agroecological and artistic dimensions throughout the cotton fiber cycle. In 2018, NI participated in the Salon Created in Cape Verde promoted by the National Center for Art, Crafts and Design (CNAD), starting an organic cotton plantation in Madeiral, São Vicente Island, Cape Verde, in partnership with the Associação Agropecuária do Calhau e Madeiral (AAPCM). Today, with the pace of insular cultivation, we experience a new time, the time of nature, of being and the time of creation.
