Objectives: In this class, participants will learn to make a Ralli Quilt block, a traditional layering and quilting method from Sindh, Pakistan. Gul will introduce participants to two techniques of making a Ralli Block, following Tuk (needle turn applique) & Tukrin (patchwork) methods with hand. She will explain the common fabrics used in this method and how to scale them up for large-scale quilts.
This workshop is taught in English and Portuguese by Gul E Raana, originally from Punjab, Pakistan, and the founder of Wenlin Studio — a brand dedicated to embroideries and natural dyeing.
Additionally, Gul will also explain the Gindi embroidery, which is used to secure all Ralli Quilt layers once the surface is finished. By the end of the session, participants will have the knowledge to make quilting blocks and apply these heritage techniques to make a quilt of their own.

Contents:
- Making a 10x10 cm Ralli Quilting Square
- Learning the (Tukrin) patchwork method by hand
- Learning the (Tuk) needle-turn applique method by hand
- Gindi Stitching to secure the surface
- Block building for quilts
Materials: all essential materials are included in this workshop. Participants who prefer to use specific embroidery frames and thimbles should bring their own.
Requirements: participants must be over 14 years old. Some knowledge of needlework will benefit the participant. This workshop is taught in English and Portuguese.
Withdrawals/refunds: the registration fee will be refunded to students who for some reason cannot participate in the workshop and communicate their withdrawal up to ten days before the workshop date.

Please note: The workshop will only take place if a minimum of three people sign up to participate. In the event that we don’t reach minimum attendance of three participants until five days before the date of the workshop, the workshop will be cancelled and any participants who had signed up will be contacted for a refund, rescheduling (if possible) or shop voucher to be arranged. In the event that the workshop is cancelled by the tutor due to unforeseen circumstances, we will apply the same procedure: refund of the fee, exchange for a shop voucher or, should another workshop date already be booked, a rescheduling of the workshop.
